A continuation of our post from last week, as a result of some recently published work on Top Trends Impacting Business (both large and small) In 2013,  I wanted to share with you several of my views on top trends over the coming days.

1.    Get online or inline.

I am always shocked to learn how many small and mid sized business owners consider their websites as a static marketing tool. Plug in some data and review it every one or two years. If this is how you manage your website then guess what, you are loosing more business leads that you likely care to know about. Our addiction to technology has enabled an addiction to information. How did we survive without Google anyway? Buyers today in both the retail and corporate sector are more educated then ever, and their first visit to your business is typically online. A website is a dynamic tool to demonstrate value to the customer. If you haven’t updated your website in over a year, make this the first thing you do in 2013. My updates are underway as we speak!

2.    Crowdsourcing versus Google.

Now I will admit that “Crowdsourcing” is not my term, but I have found during the past year that as people build their personal networks on social media (i.e. Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook), more are relying on their personal networks to help them make decisions. Thinking about buying the latest technological gadget? Why not just tweet to your friends and ask for their thoughts versus relying on Google’s algorithm? Are you on Twitter or Facebook? How can you build your own business network to help advise these “crowds” of the value you provide customers?
